About the Event

The Hyderabad Runners SLR juggernaut takes us to the picturesque Koheda Hill in the Eastern side of the city this weekend. This is the monthly special destination SLR and we found this piquant route originating from the Koheda Hill.

The Koheda Hill or the Koheda gutta is a small hillock that has the Hanuman temple atop it and it’s a landmark that has been popularised by the Instagram generation. It falls by the side of the ORR service road between Peddamberpet and Bongloor.

How to Reach

Runners have to take the exit 10 of the ORR (Peddamberpet) and find their way to the Koheda Hill. The place is about 3.5 kilometres from the Peddamberpet ORR exit (exit number 11).

The Koheda hillock is nestled alongside the ORR service road between Peddamberpet and Bongloor. The place is well connected via the ORR and the regular roads too. The Koheda Hill is positioned in a unique manner such that one can witness the ORR from a birds eye view. The view from this hillock has made this place a social media hit, and hence a lot of people come here to get captured on the lens 🙂

The place is very accessible from the city via the ORR. It’s a good break from the cityscape for all the runners.

Route

The route is a mix of road and trail and is not barefoot friendly. The route is a 10 kilometres loop starting from the Mandapam area atop the Koheda Hill. From here, the runners have to run 600 metres down the hillock onto the ORR service road and then traverse their way into the road leading to the Sanghi temple.

There’s a diversion after about 3 kilometres and runners get onto a trail leading up to the Gandicheruvu village. Runners shall run through a verdant countryside with vegetables and fruits plantations en route. From this village, runners get onto an arterial road that takes them back to the ORR service road. From here, the runners have to take a left again and get to the arch at the foothill of the Koheda hillock.

Runners can also explore some tertiary routes around but at your own risk.
